Sands Auckland Central is a voluntary, non-profit group, run by bereaved parents. While the Ministry of Health has started funding our Support Packs on a national basis, we do not receive any other government funding. We still need to raise money for the other valuable support services we offer in our community — support meetings, library books, resources for bereaved families, Baby Loss Awareness Week events, visits to hospitals to deliver support items and liaise with hospital staff, providing training to health and caring professionals etc. Donations also go towards training for our support volunteers. We hope to enable our volunteers to attend yearly training sessions to promote valuable support work ethics and self-care.
